There are days in Utah when it is just too hot outside to want to take you children outside. Have you ever wondered what to do with your child on those days? One suggestion that I would make is taking your child one of the many locations that the Salt Lake City Public Library System has to offer.
There are currently six branches of the Salt Lake City Public Library System spread throughout Salt Lake. And even though there are multiple locations you only need one library card. If you don’t have a library card it is really easy to get one. Take two pieces of mail (to verify you live in Salt Lake City) to the librarian behind the main desk and ask for a card.

These various locations offer different events for you and your children. Check out the events page for the different events and which location that event is taking place. There are authors readings, children book readings, computer classes, movies, and other fun things for the whole family.
The only library I have been to often is the Main Branch. They have an amazing children’s section with a places for the children to play, read, or just sit. There is also a nice little fountain outside of the children’s section that is pleasing for the children. You can check out all kinds of media from the library for you and your little ones.
So next time you are looking for something to do when it is scorching outside, think about making a trip to your nearest library and check out some events as well as some books and movies for later.
